MEMORY CHAIR
The international design community has been buzzing about Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka´s new shape-shifting chair, MEMORY. Made of recycled aluminium, this chair squishes into a new shape every time someone sits in it. Yoshioka designed the futuristic-looking piece of furniture for Italian brand, Moroso and it is certainly an attention grabber!
The way Memory chair was designed was Yoshioka made a special fabric from recycled aluminium. After creating a chair, the designer draped the fabric in a dome over the piece of furniture.
The final design is a shape-shifting chair that contours to the body of who ever sits in it.
In addition to employing eco-friendly fabrics, Yoshioka says he hopes the chair’s metamorphic nature will inspire people to think about nature.
Memory is a chair of unlimited forms. its design is completed through the modification of its silhouette. For the project, Yoshioka developed a special fabric made with recycled aluminium, which he has used to create a chair that transforms and memorizes its shape upon use.
